Polish workers held hostage in Holland

A few days ago a representatives from the Polish League Against Defamation in Amsterdam received notification concerning a worrying situation, that young Polish citizens were held hostage by their employer!
The owner of a cleaning company, originally from Turkey, was unhappy, because part of his staff fled back to Poland after his cousin’s attempt to rape one of the Polish women.
Coordinator of the employees, also a Pole, was severely beaten for letting them go and ended up in hospital. The man in fear of further retribution from his employer also later fled back to Poland.
In this situation the employer, fearing further loss of remaining employees held them hostage at his home threatening with not paying them wages if any information leaks out to public.
Dutch police located them and transferred the workers to a hotel. Unfortunately, both the police and the Dutch Labour Inspectorate concluded that the Poles are not victims, and the company actions are ‘consistent with the procedures.’
The course of events was monitored by the head of the Foundation Poolse Media, which contacted the Consulate. The young people have not received any financial or psychological support.
