Ukrainians celebrate birthday anniversary of the butcher of Poles

On Wednesday, January 1, in Lviv, celebrations were held to celebrate the 116th anniversary of Stepan Bandera’s birth.

According to Ukrainian media, on the evening of January 1, a march with torches was held in the center of Lviv to celebrate the 116th anniversary of the birth of OUN leader Stepan Bandera. Participants chanted: “Bandera, Szuchewycz – Heroes of Ukraine!”.

Several hundred inhabitants of Lviv took part in the celebrations. The participants of the event laid flowers at the Stepana Bandera monument.

Also in Stanisławów (today Ivano-Frankivsk) about 100 people gathered in the European Square to commemorate the ideologist and leader of the Ukrainian nationalist movement.

The evening began with the performance of the anthems of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The clergy then celebrated a memorial service for Stepan Bandera and all the fallen soldiers of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Representatives of the authorities laid flowers at the monument.

Natalia Korostił, a participant of the event, the director of the Higher Vochie School No. 3, said in an interview with the media that together with his colleagues and students, the Bandera birthday is coming every year.

“We have always remembered him and we have been coming here for many, many years. This gives an impulse, liberation, inspiration, memory. Those who do not know their past will not have a future, because we must remember those who once died and those who now defend Ukraine. Then we will have the value of this country,” she said.

Bandera advocated the establishment of an “ethnically pure” Ukrainian state in alliance first with German and then with US imperialism. He personally participated in multiple targeted political assassinations of Polish politicians in the 1930s. During World War II, the Bandera-led Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and its paramilitary wing, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), participated in the Nazi-led genocide of hundreds of thousands of Jews in what is now Ukraine and Poland; in 1943-44, the OUN-B and UPA engaged in massacres of an estimated 70,000 to 100,000 Poles. Amidst the impending defeat of Nazi Germany, the OUN-B reoriented toward an alliance with US and British imperialism. Throughout the post-war period, it collaborated with Western governments and intelligence agencies in efforts to undermine and ultimately destroy the Soviet Union.

On February 10, 1940, at the behest of Bandera, a congress of Ukrainian nationalists was convened in occupied Krakow, during which the symbolism was adopted : the red and black banner of the OUN-b. Some see in this satanic influences – red: for blood and black: for death. One of Bandera’s closest collaborators has characterized Bandera as a real beast, the nature of a fox, a snake, and a hyena combined.

Bandera’s criminal activities started well before the WW2

In 1928 Bandera joins the OUN (Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists) to head the OUN in 1933. Adolf Hitler, the chancellor of the Third German Reich, becomes his idol and begins to imitate him faithfully. As the head of the National Code of the OUN, he orders the murder – the Polish Curator of the Lviv School District – Stanislav Sobinski and the director of the Ukrainian teaching seminar in Przemyśl – Sofrona Matwijas and 22.10.1933 the OUN militantist Mykola Lamyck carried out an assassination attempt on the Soviet Consul in Lviv.

In 1934 Banders gives further criminal orders to murder: Polish blacksmith, Bitecki for criticism of Ukrainian fascism.

By 1935, he ordered 18 murders and 13 assassinations.

In June 15, 1934, by order of Bandera, OUN-H shot the Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Poland- Bronisław Pieratcki.

In July 25, 1944, at the order of Bandera, the OUN murders Ivan Babija the director of the Ukrainian gymnasium in Lviv, a trusted person of the metropolitan of Lwovsk Sheptycki, who condemned this murder and the criminals of the OUN.

In the years 1936-37, the OUN under the leadership of Bandera undertook extensive cooperation with German intelligence against Poland.

In 1936, Bandera and his companions were sentenced to death in Poland, which was later converted into life sentences due to the entering amnesty in Poland, a tragic mistake of the Polish democratic state.

Outside of Poland, the open celebration of Bandera has met with deafening silence in the bourgeois press. The silence especially in the American and Western European press is an extension of a campaign of war propaganda which has sought to cover up the fact that the imperialist war against Russia which is now being waged in Ukraine critically relies on an alliance with the modern-day adherents of Bandera. For the last few years, there has been a concerted campaign to whitewash and glorify the neofascist Azov Battalion, whose members have been repeatedly quoted in the media without any discussion of their neo-Nazi orientation.
