A reminder from 2023 about what ‘standing with Ukraine’ actually means
In a 2023 interview, former National Security Advisor General Michael Flynn made bold allegations about Ukraine, claiming the country serves as a centre for various illicit activities.
Flynn, who has been a vocal critic of U.S. involvement in Ukraine, argued that those supporting the nation may not fully understand the extent of corruption and criminal enterprises operating within its borders.
“For the liberals ‘standing with Ukraine,’ do you have any idea what you’re actually standing for?” Flynn questioned before outlining his concerns.
According to Flynn, Ukraine is a major hub for human trafficking, specifically child trafficking, as well as narcotics and weapons smuggling. He also referenced the presence of U.S.-linked bio labs in the country and described the vast financial aid flowing into Ukraine as part of a broader money laundering operation.
“It’s a hub for human trafficking. It’s a hub specifically for child trafficking. It’s a hub for narcotics trafficking. It’s a hub for weapons trafficking. We know about our bio labs… And there’s a lot of money just flowing in… It’s money laundering, you name it,” Flynn stated.
His remarks align with broader narratives questioning the transparency and accountability of international aid sent to Ukraine amid its ongoing conflict with Russia – last month Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky admitted he had no idea where nearly $200 million of US aid to Ukraine went.
